Classic Bush Poplin Guide Shirt

Our Classic Bush Poplin Guide Shirt is a page out of the history books. Based on the original Willis & Geiger Bush Shirt sold through the famous outfitter Abercrombie & Fitch and later under the Willis & Geiger label, our re-creation is true to the original – with all of the original's classic features, plus new comfort and performance "Signature" features borrowed from our award-winning Signature Field Shirt. 

Classic Features: Like the original that was a favorite of Ernest Hemingway, explorers, adventurers and professional hunters of a classic bygone era, our new Guide Shirt is sewn from 100% long-staple 5.9 oz. cotton bush poplin, which is distinguished by its tight, compact weave of high-twist yarn. This remarkable fabric wicks away moisture and breathes, yet repels rain, thorns, biting insects and just about everything else. Traditional design features include two large, bellows pockets, a center back pleat, hanger loop, working epaulets, and roll-up sleeves with extra-long roll tab loops inside of each sleeve. 

Avedon & Colby Features: Tailored side panels (instead of cheaper and easier to sew side seams) work with our unique double-reversed underarm gussets and pivot sleeves to allow complete freedom of arm and upper body movement. All seams are single-needle stitched and serged to prevent fraying of the material, and the seven-button front placket features a horizontal lower button hole which counters the natural stress on the button so it won't pull out. The front pockets feature notched, tuck-in flaps, and hidden buttons secure the shirt's collar tips to prevent flapping in windy conditions. All buttons are molded from ground horn powder and urea-methanol resin for exceptional strength and durability, and raised button rims protect the thread from abrasion.
